 Cotton Yarn

I started knitting a scarf to my husband with TLC Cotton Plus. I liked it so much I bought some green ones (kiwi color) to make a cardigan for me. It is very soft, has a nice sheen and drape. The yarn is also soft and easy on my fingers to knit.

I got the pattern  from LionBrand website . It is called Ripple Pattern

Ripple Pattern

Row 1 (RS) *[K2tog] 3 times, [k1, yo] 6 times, [k2tog] 3 times; rep from * to end.
Rows 2 and 3 Knit.
Row 4 Purl.

Rep rows 1-4.

 Socks for Cold Feet

I love socks! I once knitted a pair with acrylic yarn (Poesie) and they came out so beautiful!

Not only they  lasted a long time but I also used a different technique to make the heels. There is no need to pick up stitches. It is just increase and decrease.

The heels look like this:

I promised my husband I would make him a nice pair. I am amazed at the different kind of yarns available. I read that the ones with elastic make excelent socks for they grab the foot gently.

The cotton one is either "Cascade Fixation"  or "Sprint"  by Ellan.

The wool one is called "Sock it to me" and is sold by Ellan.

I made a little research and I came out with these sites with good infos:

 False Cable Hat

Hello Everybody... I hope you all like this hat... FONT>

I did my  best  to share this pattern I created.

Have Fun!

Pattern : numbers of stiches  divisible by 9

Row 1 : knit

Row 2, 4, 6 and all even rows :  as they are presented

Row 3 / Row 5  : * 5 purl / 4 knit * repeat

Row 7, 9 : 3 purl  *4knit / 5 purl*

Row 11 : knit

Row 13, 15 : 1 purl  *4 knit / 5 purl*

Row 17 : knit

You can also use the graphic as a reference.  Remember the graphic refers to the Right Side.

Legend:

| = knit

.  = purl

MATERIAL:

  • US 4 / 3.5 mm  circular   and  a set of  5 double pointed needles 3.5 mm
  • 90 gr (4 oz)  wool or cotton

Note: I used a yarn 100% acrylic and also thick to knit with  needles US 7 / 4.5 mm though it was knit using US 4 / 3.5mm . This makes the hat a "tight knit"  and really warm to face cold wind.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Cast  on 144 stiches . Join and work  in the rnd (round).

Tip: Place a thread here as a marker to denote begining of the round and help you count.

Work ribbing for   25 rounds : * one knit, one purl *

Then start the pattern and knit  10 stripes of the pattern  + 2 rounds. ( The last two rounds will be row 1 and 2 of the pattern - in knit)

On the last round  switch to a set of 5 double pointed needles (same number/ 3.5 mm ) and  now work  only  on purl.

Decreasing:

*Round 1 : p2t (together)

Round 2  and  Round 3 : purl  * repeat

Continue like this until 9 sts remain.

Cut yarn and draw through last stiches and fasten off.

Hope you like it!
